Bulletin Boards

For anyone that may not be familiar with the board system on Carnage Mud.
They are used to express ideas, updates, or even just interesting tidbits.
So run, don't walk to a board near you and take a look or have your say :)
Rumour is Cliff the mailman guards one with his very life!

The board system is very like the mail system. You need to buy a letter
and pen (don't forget to HOLD the pen). The first line must be the subject.
All else will be the the message content.  Once done: "pin letter board" so
that it gets stuck to the board.

You have the following commands at your disposal:
write letter         : start writing on a letter.
pin letter board     : stick your message up.
look board           : see all the posted messages.

Constitution

Constitution measures a characters ability to withstand punishment.  A
character with a high constitution gets more HIT POINTS.  Although
Constitution doesn't lend itself to any one particular discipline, those
that study COMBAT usually like to have a high constitution so that they can
fight longer.  Although constitution can be very nice no matter what you
study.

Dexterity

Dexterity is an attribute that is used to measure how well a character is
able to preform certain technical skills.  Dexterity is a rating of prowess
or deftness. It is basically a measure of how naturally gifted a character
is in hand-eye or hand-foot coordination.  For example, a high dexterity
would enable a character to avoid hits in combat by moving out of the way or
dodging at the right times.  The discipline of STEALTH is based on a
characters dexterity.  Those with a higher dexterity have an easier time
learning STEALTH.  The discipline of WOODCRAFT is also based of a characters
dexterity.

Help

The HELP command without any keywords will bring up a listing
of all the commands you may use. If you want further information
about a particular command then you may use that command as an
argument to the help command. Keywords are searched for in the
help database by performing a partial substring match.

Example:

help "power word" pword !kill !fear

The above example tells the search engine to search for help on
a topic containing the substrings "power word" and pword, but
not containing the substrings kill or fear. Double quotes treat
their contents as a single word and the '!' character reverses
the logic of the keyword.

Hit Points Hits Hp

Hit points is a simple concept that is used to gauge how much damage
someone can sustain before they die.  On one hand, characters with a high
CONSTITUTION get more hit points to reflect how much physical damage they
can take.  On the other, characters gain hit points when they level to
reflect their ability to take a reduced amount of damage in relationship to
how much is done to them.  For example, if one guy has 300 hit points, and
another has 30, that does not necessarily mean that the first is 10 times
tougher than the second.  It could mean that the first is more experienced
and has learned to turn would-be fatal blows into only painful ones.

Mana

The magical energy that a person is able to collect and store is measured by
his/her mana.  Mana is the source of all spells.  Characters with a high
INTELLIGENCE and WISDOM tend to have more mana than others because they are
better at understanding its complex workings.  Some races also tend to have
a better knack for mana too.  Casting spells will deplete your mana supply
and sleeping or resting will increase it.

Movement Moves

A characters movement is a measure of how far they can travel before
they need rest.  When a person moves from location to location, the terrain
or the relative distance may be different.  This is reflected in the amount
of movement they lose.  For example, walking from the bathroom to the
hallway in a house may cost 1 movement while moving from the bottom of a
hill to the top may cost 6.  Some COMBAT skills will deplete your movement
because of the intensity of the actions that are performed.

Strength

Strength is an attribute that is used to measure how strong a character is.
That is, his/her ability to lift a lot of weight.  Strong characters have an
aptitude for learning the discipline of COMBAT.  This isn't to say that
only strong people can fight well, but that it takes a lot of knowledge to
equal sheer brute force.
