Darkness Spell

Effect    : Home made orb of darkness

This spell conjures an orb of darkness. The orb will absorb light from the
room with the effect that the room will darken. You can hold, drop, or throw
the orb to achieve different effects.

Draw Skill

   This skill allows you to draw a new weapon in the midst of battle,
including putting away your current weapon, if any.  Be warned that if
you fail, you will drop your weapon!

Heal Spell

Mana Cost : 50                Target    : victim
Save      : None
Effect    : 

Heal will restore about 100 hitpoints to a person depending on the skill of
the caster. Exceptional casting proficiency can heal considerabley more than
100. A target suffering from blindness will also be cured by this spell.

Offer, Rent, Capacity

   There is no longer a rent system in the Worlds of Carnage; however, you
can still "rent" out at an inn. Renting just means your items are stored
someplace safe until you return. The offer command will let you know how much
your items are worth and both commands will let you know when you have
exceeded your maximum storage capacity.

Pword Stun Spell
( power word )


Mana Cost : 45                Target    : none
Save      : None
Effect    : 

This spell enables you to recite one of the words of power, instantly stunning
some of the weaker creatures in the room. The effectiveness of the spell is
dependent on your level.

Repair

The repair command is used to repair a damage item. You must have the
relevent repair skill for the item you are attempting to fix. For instance
if you have repair armour, but not repair weapon and you attempt to repair
a sword, then you will not be able to. To repair an item you just need to
type the following:

    Usage:

        repair <item name>

    Example:

        repair skeleton sword

Retreat Skill

The advanced manuever of retreating requires a cool head, along with
fast reflexes.  Masters in the skill of retreating will find that
they'll be able to flee from combat in the direction of their choice.
They will also find that the penalties for retreat aren't as high
as fleeing.

    Usage:

    retreat <direction>

    Example:

    retreat south

 Preparing to retreat takes a noticable amount of time, up to a full
combat round in some cases.  Also, You'll notice that it becomes much
more difficult to retreat when being attacked by multiple opponents.

Vampires
( vampyres )

Vampires are an unholy bloodline of creatures that have died but not crossed
over to the other side. Their ancestor's ancient pact with the darkness has
imbued them with unnatural life and supernatural abilities.

Vampires are strongest at night during which the darkness over the world
empowers their spirit. During the daytime, however, vampires are considerably
weakened and must hide away from the sun's light or die. No matter how far
they may crawl into the earth's bowels, the light on the earth will continue
to sap their strength until nightfall.

As a result of the Vampire's ancient heritage, the Vampire suffers from
bloodlust, which is an intense craving for the blood of the living. When they
feed on a corpse their bloodlust decreases, their evilness increases, and they
may enjoy some degree of regeneration. Vampires who ignore their bloodlust
will meet with death.

quests And Questing

There are many in-game quests that have been designed for players to overcome
in order to obtain highly prized possessions. Supplemental to this are quests
given out by immortals for a player to overcome in order to receive a prize
of the questmaster's choice. These kinds of quests are usually reserved for
high level players but on occasion are given to the low level peasants that
ravage the lands. It has been rumoured that the evil one, DevilDoll, has been
known to grant quests with more frequency than any other of the great beings.
Sages have long argued whether this is by ordination or by conviction, but all
agree that he is one to seek in times of need. Be prepared though, he is
mischevious and not known for benevolence.

Worlds Of Carnage

   Welcome to the WORLDS OF CARNAGE. This MUD system has several
differences from the standard Diku MUD system.  Several items you will see
on this MUD we prefer to think have inspired other MUDs to do similar
things.  Now, as you may have noticed, you were not asked for a class,
that's because we have implemented a classless, skill-based system.  Your
progress in the fields of study are based on the attribute order you
selected earlier. Further information on the classless system can be
obtained by typing HELP SKILLS.

Crash Protection:

    No more losing your equipment due to crashes!  Check out "help crash"
for details.

Player Killing:

   Carnage is now Full Player Kill. Watch your backs, and see the various
help files for further detail...
  

Practicing and Teachers:

   On this MUD system, guildmasters, those who teach you skills and spells
can be obvious, or they may not be.  Not only that but how far they can
teach you in a specific skill is dependent on how advanced the mob is.
The more experienced the teacher, the higher percentage you can learn from
them.

    Guildmasters are not necessarily in defined "Practice Areas" they can
be anywhere at all in the game.  To find them, you'll have to look for
certain clues, and it is advisable to investigate the local taverns for
clues and hints.  For any more information on this type HELP PRACTICE.

NPC/PC Interaction:

   Many of the NPCs, or Non-Player Characters on this MUD system are
interactive with Player Characters (you).  You can ask some of them
questions, give them stuff, say something to them, do something around
them, and they will react as defined in the game.  This can be used to make
quests or riddles for the players to figure out.  If you are ever stuck,
trying to get something or go somewhere and are having trouble, try asking
the NPCs around you questions.

Mail System:

   Most of you who are familiar with Diku systems are familiar with
bulletin boards.  We have multiple bulletin boards, specific to areas,
guilds and other interests.  We also have a private mail system.  There is
a small fee to use it (in gold coins from the game), since you have to buy
a letter and pen to make a letter.  Look for a mailbox to check your mail
and read it. Also if you register your email address with the "setemail"
command then any mudmail sent to you will be forwarded along to your email
address also.

Real Names:

   This MUD allows you to enter your real name, if you choose.  It is not
mandatory.  If you choose to do so, anyone who uses the command "whois" on
the mud on you can read your name and see what site you're connected from.
This is only to avoid confusion between players on names, because some
people have similar player names or use names that others use.  This way
you can make sure that person is who you think they are.

   In closing, you should know that this is a highly group-oriented MUD.
you can be a loner if you choose, however you may find it more rewarding to
group up with people of a different field of study.  This is not just a
hack and slash MUD, because of the interaction, it can require strategy and
thought at times.  You also may find this a challenging MUD, since we do
not believe in players being able to easily obtain powerful items, or other
unrealistic things like that.  We hope you enjoy it, and if you have any
