Recent Changes [2005-08-12 14:30:45]
Recently I rewrote how saves work (save versus spells etc.). The old system
was on a 20 point basis with garbage values based on someone arbitrary idea
of what might work. Additionally players gained levels their saves increased
but these were not countered by increased levels of spell sources. For
instance one would expect a level 60 gnome's lightning bolt would have more
efficacy than a level 10 gnomes and so a level 60 troll would have just as
much trouble saving versus a level 60 lightning bolt as would a level 10 troll
versus a level 10 lightning bolt. This kind of system is now in place. Players
(and mobs in general) now get a save bonus based on their level and a save
penalty based on the level of the spell source. If both are of the same level
then they cancel out. How does this affect players in general? Unless you
equip yourself to save versus spells, you probably won't save versus them
much anymore :) So this will increase the damage you take or duration of some
negative affects placed on you. Ultimately this will even the gorund some more
for spell casters. Additionally this will set the stage for the future
addition of anti-save stats that can cancel out the save bonuses accumulated
on a target.

Also changed was the exp loss for dying due to pkill. It was reduced a little
bit more and tops out around 300k for living legends. Additionally the flee
penalty was decreased when fleeing from PC or PC controlled creatures. Happy
killing each other-- don't forget you need a role play to run around killing
unless there's a mutual agreement by both parties (such as sparring).

Blobbie.

New Spells: Major Heal, Depravity [2005-07-29 23:02:38]
Major heal for Dedicated clerics. Depravity for dedicated necormancers. In
addition to these spells the following changes were made to other classes:

   - Paladin's now get cure serious
   - Shaman's now get cure critical
   - Dedicated Druids now get heal

Also the following changes were made recently:

   - Sanctuary is now a flat half damage reduction
   - Save versus for half damage is now save versus for 2/3 damage
   - Pword spells are now level based for hitpoints threshold
   - There was a max damage cap in the game for 150, it has been removed

Users of the arcan should now find their spells more powerful as I had meant them to be months ago (but I was unaware of the damage cap).

Major heal spell was brought to you by Wren.

Cheers,
Blobbie.

New Area: Pleasant Glade [2005-07-17 16:17:06]
A long lost forest retreat has been rediscovered southwest of Elkin.  Lots of tiny little critters populate the Pleasant Glade.  This is an ideal place for starting players beginning to find their way in the World of Carnage to gain experience in combat.  After speaking with the Newbie Master, head west and start your adventures.

Brought to you by Wren.

Some Recent Changes [2005-07-16 00:03:16]
New characters now start out with some basic skills. Existing chars do not
get any equalization. I'm sure you can bear it. If not, feel free to start
a new character :B

Updated the racial stats list. If your race had a stat max increased then
you can now achieve that max. If it was lowered and you are already above then
you get to keep your bonus. See comments for the last paragraph if you feel
the need to whine.

Kick skill had some bugs and was fixed. Should be a bit more powerful now.

Stomp skill was updated and you can now stomp creatures less than a third
of your height even if they are standing.

Updated object damage code. Your items shouldn't get damaged so easily any
more. Let me know if they do.

Cheers,
Blobbie.

New Area: Angrorn [2005-06-21 13:01:45]
Grim word is spreading across the lands from Elkin to Cythera, Crete to
Sundhaven at a pace not seen for an age.  A dark menacing force of most
wicked, monstrous, beastly humanoids has risen to power and is encroaching
on the civilized lands of the world.  The leaders of Cimmura fear for their
lands despite their reputable city forces and have called upon their sister
cities for aid.  In your hometown of <?= %stringUcFirstAll( @n->hometown ) ?>
the names of living legends,  who have purportedly either perished or fled
the fortress of Angrorn, are being passed around in the shadows of
defamation.  The whispers are clear that those who are not masters in their
trade should not venture near this vile place.

Gratz to our new immortal Wren for bringing us this area.

New Skill: Archery [2005-06-19 13:03:33]
Kudos go out to our new immortal Squirt for bringing us this cool new skill.

Cheers,
Blobbie.

New Spell: Regroup [2005-06-18 15:49:06]
