Should be a boat load of prereq spells. Probably take 2 (or 3?) practices and be a hard to get tome. Maybe even level based? (>60?)
By concentrating, the dedicated cleric/mage is able to focus their energy and improve the spell's output by x% and decrease the mana usage by y%.
Focusing, however, is quite strenuous. As a result of being so focused you would lose X hp per spell. You are also unable to move (hence flee) during your time of focus (5 mud hours?). You would probably be deaf to any surrounding noises due to being so focused on your spells. Also, since it's so tiring you would have a period of lessened regeneration.
It would be used similar to parry/sneak skill ("Okay, you will attempt to focus your mind.") and would only be able to be used once every X days (2 mud weeks?). After it wears off, perhaps there should be the opposite effect (lowered spell output, higher mana) as you recover ("Your mind is still to tired to focus adequately) for a mud day.
So there's a bit of a risk/reward type thing to use it.
Sounded like a crippled "Arcana Mastery" which has already been removed. There is a possibility for Mage's getting "one" Mastery in a given element, but that pretty much falls apart when you look at other casters like Necromancer or Cleric or even Druid, which hardly have enough spell variation to pick a mastery group.
