This was an old cythera ranger skill:

A ranger can set up a warning ward in the form of a small woodland creature (a tiny bird or the like) When somebody crosses the path of this creature, the bird quickly takes flight and informs the ranger that somebody has crossed that path.

Nice, similar to magic mouth but since the creature leaves it's one shot only which gives it a nice differentiation.
