Why are halflings weaker than gnomes? A halfling soldier/warrior seems much more likely to me than a gnome soldier/warrior.

Heck, even the help file on gnomes states in the first sentence: "Gnomes are as short as halflings, and even weaker."

Halflings max STR is 51, gnomes 55. This seems flip flopped to me.

Weaker doesnt necessarily mean they get less strength. Halflings got higher con and higher dex which also play a big part in how strong a character is.

weaker= less agile
weaker= less strong
weaker= less.. your point? help race its not specific on which exactly

why i consider it that way?
Well cause most combat skills depend on each 3, I dont take weaker literally and just say str. Weaker char or race depends on those 3 if you thinking of a warrior type like u pointed out on first post. So Halflings much better than gnome if u wanna make a warrior primary

No way armand.

MANY skills, like Slash, Bludgeon, Kick, rescue rely ONLY on STR. Others, like HB, 2nd attack, bash rely on STR and CON.

A halfling having 51 max STR affects their ability to fight much more than does having some con to add to third attack, pierce, and combat skill.

The fact is, until merge, gnomes were the physically weakest and the best at magic - now they're stronger than a race and this makes no sense.

I dont mean to be offensive man but seems u attack my builds, u dont even have a halfling, nor a gnome, nor a thief and yet u still comment a lot on it. Just my opinion, not saying we should think alike but thats 3 now. And counting

I brought up halfling vs gnome after reading help files, not due to your choice of builds. Honestly Torak, you have most every race (cept mebbe Orc?) so any comment I make on these races will affect you.

And I do have a halfling - no one knows who it is.

I also commented that reptiles don't need more boosts (and I play one). I also commented in mud that dwarves were too big statistically compared to other races - and I play one lots.

It has nothing to do with you specifically but my observation would be that many builds you make you want upgraded, and I disagree w/ some of them. Just like people didn't agree with clerics getting post lag. $hit happens and people disagree - that's the way the cookie crumbles. I tried to agree w/ getting thieves upgraded a bit but I didn't see the need for a slew of new skills when current could be made nicer (from BS during combat to thrash enhancement). I disagree on some things and agree on others - don't just focus on the 3 I disagree on. If you'd prefer I post each time I agree, I'll do so and pad my post totals.

When it comes down to it, my logic that you quoted makes sense from a game perspective - you're just off on your analysis about the differences between gnomes and halflings. STR plays the greatest role in combat skills (more than dex or con cuz u need it for ALL combat skills) and therefore stating that halflings are better off w/ dex than w/ str was off. As long as I can remember halflings were stronger (STR) than gnomes, and until just recently, this was the case - so I commented on it. Mind you, I was hoping halflings would move up, not gnomes move down (in STR).

EDIT: The halfling is a thief too btw, so it had nothing to do with you Torak. I don't post thinking "lets see how I can screw Torak today!", there are other gnomes, and thieves in the game, right? If anything, I like your chars being good cuz we work together a lot to get stuff done and it's in my own best interest to group w/ someone who is maximized as much as we can push Blobbie to maximize (race or class).
