Hey guys,

I was thinking today after a convo with Armand about pkill. Recently, the only player that pkilled actively left the game. But there are still people who want to pkill/fight others. What if we had a gladiator mode twice a month (real life month) at set times. This would allow those to who wanted to fight and those who suck at it (me :p ) to fight and learn. Maybe it would lead to more active pkilling in the game itself. idk.

Just a random thought/idea......

cheers

Kay what you dont want is to lose exp in my opinion and not just because you suck at pvp. You got a huge char, and pardon me but i seen you killin mobs just fine i dont see why u say u suck at it, its essencially the same, fighting someone else mob or pc, just changes some tactics. And well, to learn pkilling skills u need to fight. How you think most of us learnt? I died about 50 times before i became a decent player in pvp, i dont see anyone dying that much on this age and they bitch a lot more than we did back in the day.

The problem with pvp is exp related in my opinion, if people didnt lose exp or could reset sometimes when dying we wouldnt have endless debates about it and people that killed or died wouldnt complain when someone takes a more active role.

For me a glad mode is ok but because its not a real challenge since you wont prep for it and u die and dont lose a thing seems Its fun yeah but not of much substance. Also for glad modes to happen or for people to be actually here is by luck since we got jobs and stuff to do, cant be here at a determined time to do a glad mode.

I dont think pkill should be optional for several reasons:
* noone has pked much since last age
* people havent lost their corpses nor much exp as it is now
* roleplay rules keep people in check
* if u wanna settle something up u can do so via pvp, if it becomes optional you wont get a chance to shut up the person who been bothering you.
* penalties are low
* allows more versatility in how a person roleplays
* people who dont pvp or that pvp shouldnt be rewarded or punished by making it optional

thats some of my opinions

It has nothing at all to do with the exp. I dont mind losing the 200k exp, cause I know I will every time. What bothers me is that I have no CLUE how to pkill, regardless of what u see me do with mobs Torak. Killing a mob is totally different than killing another player in my opinion. Mobs dont react to what you do, they are just there. Other players though do, and that makes it alot harder.
Maybe its cause I'm new to mudding that I dont get why pkill is such a great thing to do. idk.

I'll start rambling if keep going...

cheers

You know how to kill mobs its just like it. You do a silence, a blind, order corpses kill , headbutt.. whats the big difference? ... they do same maybe? so what thats the fun part, to overcome someone with same oportunity to win as you.

Not to be disrespectful to some people but i had more challenge and more reaction vs the sundhaven blacksmith than vs most folks i fought against. Mobs react better in my opinion, with ground smash and other skills they do better than some pkers. But if u comparing mobs to luz or rrok or dantor well thats other story, that guy was the best pker here and since he is gone i dont think many can dream of defeating big clerics in pvp.

Believe it was touched on briefly in previous PK chain by someone else...

... but one aspect I've really enjoyed in the past elsewhere, is the ability for a character to initiate a tournament in a GLAD style mode in an arena (e.g. level-locked open war, all newbies LVL 1-15 trying to thrash the hell out of each other with their low-level skills, race aligned war with dwarves v trolls v gnome (etc), alignment based war with good versus evil or neutral or guild or team focused). Always the option for an individual to challenge a spar with another player. Removes the time dependancies of having fixed slots discussed above, allows people to practice their PK skills and gain the prestigue of new league/score tables in-game (e.g. top defender of the rightious faith etc). Thought would be needed around the current role play rules in this specific area i.e. if your online LVL 65 character knows there's a level locked 1-15 thrash in 2 mins, would be it OK for you log-off and roll out your newbie mage so that you can join in..??

To perhaps stop it been an everyday every hour occurance, thought would also be needed on how you kick one off.... say perhaps tokens randomly spawned every reset and moving round the mud like a very limited version of ball game.... Doesn't need to replace existing PK role-play. However, introduces new opportunities like: team based league PK table as an alternative to more formal guild play, characters trying to squeeze max PK skills in lower levels to top level-locked leagues, rather than waiting for higher level skills... etc etc

My 2p (or 2 cents) on the topic anyway...
